Let’s face it, cleaning is such a chore! Many of us have such busy lives and hectic schedules that even the smallest, simplest cleaning task is just too much to handle. That’s why we’ve complied a list of helpful tips and tricks to make those chores less of a pain. From tackling ‘Laundry Mountain’ to deodorizing the microwave, we’ve got you covered!
LAUNDRY: If you have a monstrous pile of laundry that you just can’t bear to do yourself, find a Laundromat with wash-and-fold service. Many of these establishments offer a ‘pay by the pound’ option so it shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg and you can often pick up your clean (and folded) laundry the next day! SCORE!
PET HAIR: We all love our pets, but man can their fur and hair become a big fuzzy nightmare! This awesome trick will have your taming those hairballs in seconds! To pick up cat hair, put on a wet rubber dish washing glove and wipe your hand over surfaces. The hair will stick right to it. Remember to use caution on any and all electronics and appliances. Safety first!
DISHWASHER: White vinegar is great for cleaning just about everything – especially your dishwasher! This simple method is also environmentally safe! Pour ½ cup of white vinegar into the detergent cups and run the empty machine for a complete cycle. Extra tip: you can also use a few tablespoons of powdered laundry bleach for an added boost.
POTS AND PANS: Tired of scrubbing, scraping and soaking those pesky baked-on foods off your pots and pans? Well, have no fear! We’ve got just the trick! Using these laundry (yes, laundry) cleaning tips you’ll be out of the kitchen in no time. Simply place a dryer sheet in a dirty pot or pan, fill with water and let it sit overnight, then simply sponge off the grime the next morning. The secret is in the anti-static agent that weakens the bond between the stuck-on food and the surface of the pan, while the fabric softener works its loosening magic.
MICROWAVE: Harness the natural (and environmentally friendly) cleaning power of citrus to get your microwave spic-n-span. This really simple trick is super quick and very effective! Cut a lemon in half, squeeze the juice into a small bowl of water, add both lemon halves so that they are submerged into the water. Place the bowl in the microwave for five minutes. The lemony scent dispels any old cooking odors, and condensation from the steam loosens any hardened stains or food build up. All that’s left is to wipe away the loose grime with a damp cloth.
Hopefully these simple and effective tips and tricks have made your chores a little less of a, well – chore! Let us know if you’ve got any tips and tricks you’d like to share with us! We would love to hear from you!
