Periscope is giving real estate agents a way to digitally connect with homebuyers and clients in real time. Could this be the new craze in real estate?

Periscope, which is a live streaming video app created by Twitter, allows viewers to push a button and watch a video that is broadcasted over the Twitter platform. It offers a exclusive opportunity for viewers to interact, ask questions and engage in conversation over the video.

So how can agents use this live-video streaming app? There are many ways to leverage this application, including live tours, professional produced videos, 3-D immersive virtual tours and automated listing videos.

Periscope can also assist in gaining more prospective buyers to open houses by enticing the customer with a live video preview — something that pictures and descriptions alone couldn’t have done.

Another popular feature of Periscope is that the app allows users to save their broadcasts as videos and republish them on other platforms. Users can also replay the video for 24 hours, which is available immediately after the broadcast ends.

According to a press release from PR.com, the Triangle Real Estate Group was the first real estate company in Raleigh, N.C. to utilize the new app. Marketing Manager Leah Bonzo stated:

“We think Periscope is going to be an amazing tool for getting our information and live videos out for the world and potential buyers to see in real time.”

Owner and CEO Katherin Burnette of Triangle Real Estate Group said “The technology allows homebuyers to see raw, real footage of a home, not just images that have been scrubbed and edited.”

We want to hear from you. How do you feel about Periscope? Is your realty group willing to try live video streaming? Have you used any other video streaming platforms in the past?
